Imaginary Friends

Although I never had a personal imaginary friend like my younger brother did, the beasties inhabiting the books our folks read to us were certainly real as friends to me. The hours and hours my parents spent reading to us are among my best memories of life as their child. As I began this body of work, the images of those friendly, sometimes scary creatures from children’s literature rose up from the paint as dear old friends. Jabberwocky and Push-Me-Pull-You, Bandersnatch and Skeezix emerged from my subconscious ready to provoke smiles and wonder as they did in my younger self. May these images stir your imagination and bring you joy!

Susan: Those stories are not familiar to me–I guess my Mom was more Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, Goldilocks, etc!! Anyway, your new work is so pleasing to me,I absolutely love the colors, and as you may know that’s what catches my eye first–always. Thanks for sending this my way. I hope all is well with you. We are busy here as always. Lauren’s baby Libby Jo has taken over our lives. Love, Terri
